I’ve been very fortunate to have worked on four films this year. It’s the busiest I’ve been (although yung isa, post-production na lang halos) pero ito rin yung pinaka-fulfilling in so many many ways.
In the same way that things happen for a reason, and how every person that comes in your life will teach you a new lesson, naniniwala din ako na may dahilan kung bakit napupunta sa akin ang isang project. Alam kong may dapat akong matutuhan either from the story or from the people that I work with. Madalas from both: ang dami kong natutuhan from the characters in the movie and the characters that I encounter while working with each film. My 2016 wouldn’t be as challenging and as inspiring if it weren’t for these films.
NAKATRABAHO KO SI ATE VI!! THE VILMA SANTOS!!! There’s a reason why she’s still here in this industry at kung bakit maraming nagmamahal sa kanya. Vivian, her character in the movie, may be harsh and cold-hearted but Ate Vi is very warm and generous. Bukod doon, napaka-professional niya. Inspirasyon talaga!
I wasn’t able to work on this project full-time but the time I spent was enough for me to learn how love and understanding can bridge our differences as people. I learned through CJ the value of kindness. Sobrang buti niya to love someone like Uno na hindi marunong tumanggap ng pagmamahal. Pero si Uno, sobrang determined to succeed. Just like the pilots (and airline crew) we met during research, Uno knows his shit! Hindi biro maging piloto! Saludo ako sa kanila!
CHINGGAY!! Ang patrona nating mga single. She represents most women. Love may break you but it will also make you stronger. At sabi nga ni Whitney Houston, “learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all.”
Ely and Mia represent the millennials. Especially Mia. Kaya siguro ako naiiyak kasi nakita ko yung sarili ko kay Mia. She escaped from a big mistake but eventually learned to forgive herself and she took the road less traveled. Yung harapin mo yung pagkakamali mo, yung humingi ng tawad sa mga taong nasaktan mo, yung tanggapin kung ano at sino ka, mahirap gawin yun pero nagawa niya. Ayan, naiiyak ako ulit.
This is precisely what I learned from the movie: to take the right path over the easy one. Madalas yung tama at yung dapat, mas mahirap pero mas doon tayo matututo at magbabago. Madalas makakasakit tayo at masasaktan tayo pero dun tayo mas mabubuo. Kaya siguro nauso yung phrase na “I learned it the hard way.” kasi lahat ng paghihirap may kapalit na lesson. And for that, I am grateful!
I am grateful for all the hardships, hindi lang sa paggawa ng mga pelikulang ito pero sa lahat ng mga dumaang pagsubok nitong 2016. I will never forget how it helped form the person that I am now. I will take each of all of these lessons with me as I welcome 2017. I’m ready for new projects, new babies and new lessons!! I AM READY!!
With love and a thankful heart, K.
